William Fleischer
William Fleischer has over 35 years of experience in the violin business, as a violinmaker, restorer and instrument dealer. His specialty is fine repair and restoration. He is known for his precision, quality, and his ability to adjust and repair instruments for better sound and playability.  He draws on his vast knowledge and skills to perform complex repairs, solve stubborn instrument problems, and completely restore old masterpieces. He currently owns and operates The Violin Shop with locations in Boca Raton, Treasure Coast and San Juan Puerto Rico.

Mr Fleischer began studying the violin at age 5, taking private lessons with violinist Adelbert Purga.  At age 16, he won a national competition and performed on national television.  He continued his studies with William Dembinsky, Associate Concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic, and Eric Rosenblith at the New England Conservatory of Music.  Along with his musical talent, Mr. Fleischer always had a keen interest in woodworking and an affinity for violinmaking.  He apprenticed with masters in both Europe and the United States, and has been a professional luthier for over 30 years.

His first shop was in Boston, and grew to be the largest shop in New England at that time.

Mr. Fleischer opened The Violin Shop in Miami, Florida in 1999, in response to the needs of the professional musical community.  In addition to fine repair and restoration, The Violin Shop is also well-known for its high-quality student instruments for sale and rent.  The Violin Shop opened its second location in Boca Raton, Florida, in July 2003. The third location, which is situated in San Juan, Puerto Rico, was opened in the fall of 2003.

As a local business owner, Fleischer feels a strong commitment to helping foster music in the South Florida community. Therefore, he regularly donates both merchandise and labor to area music schools. His primary focus is to assist students who cannot afford the cost of maintenance or repair.  A partial list of recipients ludes: Conservatory of Music at Lynn University, Florida International University, HCMD/The Bradley School of Music, New World School of the Arts, New World Symphony, Florida Youth Orchestra, Southwood Middle School and the South Florida Youth Symphony.
