Tim Barnes - Boca Raton
Tim Barnes, General Manager of The Violin Shop is a graduate of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. He is the former principal violist of the Palm Beach Opera Orchestra, as well as the Palm Beach Pops Orchestra, and The Atlantic Classical Orchestra. He is a former member of the The New World Symphony and has recorded with many artists including Michael Jackson, Gloria Estefan, and Jon Secada. As a private viola teacher, Mr. Barnes’ students have won concerto competitions, as well as winning principal viola of Florida’s All- State Orchestra. Mr. Barnes has served on the executive board of local 655, American Federation of Musicians.
Mr. Barnes has worked with The Violin Shop since 2002. He uses his experience as a seasoned professional and private teacher to assist players in finding instruments and bows that meet their price range with the characteristics they are seeking.
Mr. Barnes is married to Virginia Barnes, violinist, and private violin teacher. They have two sons.
